Ford, along with the Ohio State University, has devised an innovative way to aid in the disinfecting of police vehicles against the coronavirus. While other institutes are busy trying to discover new and efficient devices to counter the virus, Ford has come up with a relatively simple and executable approach to kill the virus. Baking them or exposing the surfaces to heat at temperatures that have proven lethal and ensure that the virus has no chance of surviving it. The new explorer police vehicles by Ford have been developed using new software, which burns up the insides of these vehicles and kills any virus-carrying particle.
This idea was conceived by the company and further developed with the researchers from Ohio State University. The process involves the working of the engines and the temperature control in synchronization. A temperature of 133 Fahrenheit has been tested to be a killer for the virus. It takes approximately 15 minutes when the engine and temperature control of the car is left to turn up the heat in full blast. Moreover, vehicles have to be left to cool down for a while after being heated. The pandemic has had an irrevocable impact on the global economy; however, the one positive outcome is combined and synergized efforts of people, which has resulted in devising ideas and technology that can help in defending people against the virus.
This new software introduced by Ford helps to keep the policemen safe while traveling, transporting, or coming in contact with patients. However, the automotive giant has deployed only a select number of vehicles. There are some modifications that the company needs to make and then probably will implement more of these vehicles to aid in the protection of police officers.
